4. Reactivation after deactivation
“Reactivation” means unwanted restoration of label’s function after deactivation. It occurs naturally without visible sign, even just after successful deactivation.Reactivated label leads confusion for both customers and retailers because they do not know EAS label is possible to be reactivated.Customers feel they are falsely accused due to store’s mistake and retailers cannot be sure if they can trust EAS system or not.Source tagging label’s reaction also causes confusion because labels are often hidden inside package. According to our survey, patented die-cut label tends to have lower reaction rate after deactivation compared with etching labels.
